A/01About the practitioner

A long memory for a short-attention industry.

Ciaran Paul Roche has built websites and businesses through nearly thirty years of search—long enough to know that every durable result starts with useful work, and every confident claim needs evidence.

The long view

Search changes. The responsibility does not.

I started building for the web when search was young, directories mattered and “optimization” could mean little more than getting a page discovered. Since then I have watched link signals mature, manipulative shortcuts collapse, machine learning reshape relevance and answer engines begin to absorb the click itself.

Websites I built have earned and held strong positions for useful search terms. Those results helped real businesses grow. But this project will not turn that history into vague proof. Where surviving records can be verified and explained responsibly, I will publish them as case notes. Where they cannot, they remain experience—not evidence.

“The algorithms have changed continuously. The best question has not: did we give the searcher something worth finding?”

Working principles

What travels across every era.

  1. 01

    Respect intent

A keyword is a compressed human need, not a slot to fill.

  2. 02

Build the best answer you can defend

Original judgment, useful structure and real sources beat ornamental volume.

  3. 03

    Measure without theatre

Record the baseline, name the conditions and show the inconvenient result.

  4. 04

    Play the long game

Reputation compounds when the work survives the next update.
